In Oradea, PM Fico reaffirms support for Romania's Slovak community, stronger bilateral ties 27.03.2026

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico visited Oradea, Romania, on Friday to meet with Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and representatives of the Slovak community. Fico reaffirmed Slovakia's commitment to supporting its ethnic minority in Romania, which numbers approximately 14,000 active and integrated individuals. He highlighted the Romanian state's provision of essential rights, including mother tongue education and cultural activities, and noted a signed protocol to promote Romanian culture in Slovakia and support the Slovak community. The visit also focused on strengthening bilateral ties, with both prime ministers expressing satisfaction with productive discussions and cooperation. The event included over 100 members of the Slovak community from various counties and religious denominations.
