Einde van een tijdperk: na 124 jaar rijdt lijn 3 vandaag voor het laatst 14h ago

After 124 years of service, Amsterdam's tram line 3 will operate for the final time on March 28, 2026, connecting the western part of the city to the east. The GVB, Amsterdam's public transport operator, is implementing a new timetable on March 29, 2026, which eliminates line 3, aiming to improve public transport offerings and reduce transfer times. Despite efforts by three city districts to prevent its discontinuation, the decision stands, leaving many regular users and enthusiasts disappointed. Line 3, first introduced in 1902, was known for its considerable length and was nicknamed 'Lange Lummel'. While its route has seen various changes over the decades, it consistently served as an east-west link. A portion of its route will be covered by the extended tram line 25.
