Evgeny Kuznetsov suspended for making crude gesture towards ex-Canucks player in KHL 12h ago

Evgeny Kuznetsov, a former Stanley Cup champion now playing for Ufa Salavat Yulayev in the KHL, has been suspended for one game and fined for making an obscene gesture towards an opposing player prior to Game 2 of his team's first-round playoff series against Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg. The gesture was reportedly directed at players including his former Washington Capitals teammate Daniel Sprong. This incident adds to a tumultuous season for Kuznetsov, who previously had a falling out with his former coach and was waived by Magnitogorsk Metallurg in January. The KHL cited paragraph 1.30 of Article 29 of its Disciplinary Regulations for the penalty. Kuznetsov's coach, Viktor Kozlov, downplayed the event as a friendly interaction.
