From Tutu Puoane to Fatoumata Diawara: Female stars steal the show at CTIJF 2026 8h ago

Day two of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) 2026 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) was dominated by a powerful lineup of female artists, showcasing both established South African talent and international stars. Mzansi's own Tutu Puoane delivered a deeply emotional and versatile set, fusing African, European, and American jazz traditions, marking a significant return to the festival stage. Other notable performances included South African vocalist Giuliette Price, Indian Grammy-nominated artist Varijashree, American singer Raveena, and Malian Grammy-nominated star Fatoumata Diawara, whose "Afrofuturistic" sound captivated the audience. These artists followed a strong contingent of female performers on Friday night, including lordkez, Rorisang Sechele, and Jasmine Myra, solidifying the festival's focus on female musical prowess.
