Mayon Volcano emits ash, lava flows as eruption enters 83rd day 5h ago

Mayon Volcano in the Philippines continues its effusive eruption, now in its 83rd day, with the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS) reporting minor explosive events on March 29 that produced ash plumes rising approximately 500 meters. These events, observed at 12:30 a.m. and 6:46 a.m., contributed to the ongoing lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDCs), and rockfalls. Alert Level 3 remains in effect, signifying a high level of unrest and the potential for hazardous eruptions, with authorities strictly prohibiting entry into the six-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone due to the persistent risks of explosions, lava flows, and ashfall. Local government units in Albay are maintaining vigilance and preparedness.
