NDLEA Intercepts Cocaine Hidden In Stockfish, Arrests 80-Year-Old With Methamphetamine 29.03.2026

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant seizures and arrests across Nigeria, targeting international and domestic drug trafficking. On March 19, operatives at Lagos' Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Strategic Command intercepted 5.80 kilograms of cocaine hidden within stockfish heads, destined for Delhi, India, leading to the arrest of Akputa Dickson Ejike. Further operations on March 25 in Lagos uncovered two consignments bound for the United Kingdom, containing 1.9 kilograms of methamphetamine in automobile filters and illicit substances including morphine and fentanyl. The agency also apprehended suspected drug baron Omolade Abigail Jolayemi in Yaba with 76.30 kilograms of "Ghana Loud," and Anayo Lucky Ohabiro in Surulere with 41 kilograms of the same substance. In Ekiti, an 80-year-old, Oke Samuel, was arrested with skunk and methamphetamine, while a substantial 894.72 kilograms of skunk was recovered in Ondo. Additional seizures of skunk, codeine syrup, and cannabis were made in Benue, Edo, and Taraba states, alongside ongoing drug abuse awareness campaigns nationwide.
