UN thanks Cyprus for latest Amalthea shipment 31.03.2026

United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Executive Director Jorge Moreira da Silva expressed gratitude to Cyprus on Tuesday for its latest humanitarian aid shipment to Gaza under the Amalthea plan. This shipment, comprising 400 tonnes of essential supplies including mattresses and incubators for pediatric wards, follows a previous delivery of 900 tonnes announced by Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos. The Amalthea corridor, established in 2024, has facilitated the delivery of over 30,000 tonnes of aid to Gaza, with Cyprus aiming to remain a stable contributor to regional peace through such initiatives, in coordination with international partners like the UN Development Programme, WHO, France, and the UAE.
