MNAR's Erwin Kessler: Cotofenesti helmet has been found; good piece of news for all of us 21h ago

The Cotofenesti helmet, stolen last year from the Drents Museum in Assen, Netherlands, has been recovered, as confirmed by Erwin Kessler, Director of the National Museum of Art of Romania (MNAR). This significant artifact, along with three gold bracelets, was part of the exhibition 'Dacia - Land of Gold and Silver' and was stolen shortly before its scheduled return to the National History Museum in Bucharest. Dutch authorities have informed Romania of the developments, with a press conference planned by the Dutch prosecutor. The recovery is considered a positive event for Romania's cultural heritage, with the museum having received 5.7 million euros in insurance compensation in September 2025.
