China, Thailand to enhance cooperation in NEV talent cultivation: officials 03.04.2026

China and Thailand are set to bolster their collaboration in cultivating talent for the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector, as announced at the 2026 World New Energy Vehicle Congress (Thailand Forum) in Bangkok. Officials from both nations emphasized deepening educational cooperation and aligning talent development with industrial growth. The two-day forum, attended by over 300 automotive and education professionals from Southeast Asia, focused on regional NEV industry coordination and talent cultivation. Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jianwei highlighted ongoing positive results and the intent to enhance policy, technology, and industrial cooperation for a sustainable regional NEV industry. Thailand's Ministry of Education official, Yodsapol Venukosess, acknowledged China's technological leadership and expressed a commitment to strengthening talent cultivation and industry-education integration. The event also saw the launch of a NEV consortium for joint talent cultivation and the "Chinauto" project to foster technological exchange and industry-education cooperation. Chinese enterprises have significantly invested in Thailand's NEV industry, with seven automakers establishing facilities totaling over $3 billion and creating numerous local jobs.
