Rwanda’s Kagame blasts US sanctions, cites bias toward DR Congo 17h ago

Rwandan President Paul Kagame has strongly criticized US sanctions imposed in early March against the Rwandan army for its alleged support of the M23 rebel group in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Kagame described these sanctions as "insults" and accused the US of applying "heavy pressure" on Rwanda while treating the DRC "delicately." He asserted that Rwanda is adhering to signed agreements, unlike the DRC, which he claims is not meeting its obligations. Kagame also questioned the US approach, stating Rwanda will not cease defensive measures while facing threats and called on oil companies to finance security in Mozambique's Cabo Delgado province, where Rwandan troops are deployed.
