Netanyahu ousts top aide after racist remarks 12h ago

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dismissed his acting chief of staff and spokesperson, Ziv Agmon, following the emergence of leaked racist remarks attributed to him. Agmon reportedly referred to Jews of Moroccan descent as "baboons" and made disparaging comments about members of Netanyahu's Likud party and the prime minister's family. Agmon is expected to be replaced by Ido Norden in the coming days, a decision that represents a shift after Netanyahu initially indicated Agmon would remain for stability. Norden himself faces scrutiny for allegedly creating fake social media accounts to promote his book on the "deep state" and its alleged role in the October 7th Hamas attack. Norden's appointment is pending vetting by the Shin Bet.
