Negros Oriental capitol restricts travel, nonessential activities amid fuel crisis 08.04.2026

Negros Oriental, the first province in the Negros Island Region to do so, has implemented restrictions on official travel and nonessential activities to conserve fuel amidst the ongoing Middle East crisis. Governor Manuel “Chaco” Sagarbarria issued Executive Order No. 32 on April 6, 2026, mandating the suspension, deferral, or online shift of various government-related events, including delegations, ceremonies, and meetings, to reduce fuel consumption and ensure prudent resource management. The order prohibits provincial departments from scheduling or participating in nonessential group activities requiring transportation, fuel, or electricity without the governor's explicit authorization. Exemptions are provided for disaster risk reduction, legally mandated functions, and time-sensitive service delivery, with only indispensable, non-postponable out-of-province trips permitted.
