Netanyahu continues war against Hezbollah in Lebanon despite Iran ceasefire 08.04.2026

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that a two-week ceasefire announced on April 7, 2026, between Iran, the United States, and Israel does not extend to Lebanon, despite claims from conflict mediator Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that the truce applies "everywhere." Netanyahu's office confirmed support for the suspension of strikes against Iran, a decision made by President Trump, while simultaneously emphasizing continued military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon. This stance contradicts the Iranian National Security Council's 10-point ceasefire plan, which aims to end the war against the "axis of resistance," including Hezbollah. French President Emmanuel Macron also declared that the ceasefire should "fully" include Lebanon. Meanwhile, the Israeli army continued to urge residents of Tyre, southern Lebanon, to evacuate.
