Drug for rare disease could extend lives of ovarian cancer patients 10.04.2026

A study published in The Lancet and presented at the SGO 2026 annual meeting on women’s cancer indicates that relacorilant, a drug typically used for Cushing’s syndrome, can significantly improve survival rates for patients with platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. In a trial involving 381 patients, those who received relacorilant alongside standard treatment lived an average of 16 months, an increase of 4.1 months compared to the 11.9 months for those on usual care alone. This regimen resulted in a 35% reduction in the risk of death, positioning it as a potential new standard of care for this aggressive form of ovarian cancer.
