A 24-year-old employee of a luxury watch store in Bukit Jalil, Malaysia, has been sentenced to one year in jail and ordered to receive caning for stealing 12 high-end timepieces valued at RM2.6 million. The theft occurred on March 31, when the man took watches from brands including Patek Philippe, Rolex, and Richard Mille before leaving the premises. He was apprehended by police on April 1 in a Damansara shopping mall car park, where several watches and pawn shop receipts were recovered. CCTV footage confirmed the suspect placing the watches in a backpack. Some of the stolen items were later returned by a friend who claimed ignorance of the bag's contents.
