Melaka police apprehended two Chinese nationals, aged 28 and 38, on Tuesday at 10:30 AM in Taman Puncak Bertam for their alleged involvement in a job scam syndicate. Operating from a two-storey terrace house, the syndicate, active since February, targeted Chinese nationals residing in the United States by offering fictitious part-time jobs through Telegram. Melaka Tengah police chief Christopher Patit reported that the arrested individuals served as customer service officers for the operation. Authorities seized equipment valued at approximately RM30,000, including laptops, phones, and network apparatus. A remand order will be sought for the suspects, and the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
