Meadows seeks reimbursement from DOJ for legal fees from Trump-related probes 14.04.2026

Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has requested reimbursement from the Justice Department for legal fees related to federal and state investigations concerning former President Trump. This request surfaces as the DOJ also considers similar payout demands from Trump and claims from pardoned January 6th rioters. Meadows, who played a significant role in efforts to overturn the 2020 election results according to congressional reports, has denied wrongdoing and stated he acted in his official capacity. While never charged in special counsel Jack Smith's federal election interference case, he faced state charges in Georgia and Arizona, with Georgia charges being dropped after a presidential pardon. The Justice Department's regulations allow for reimbursement of legal fees for employees acting within their official duties, but the department assesses each request individually, and the outcome for Meadows is currently undetermined.
