Addis Ababa, April 15, 2026 (ENA) — Ethiopia and Portugal have agreed to convene a bilateral political consultation in the near future. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion 15.04.2026

Ethiopia and Portugal have agreed to hold bilateral political consultations soon, following discussions between their respective Foreign Ministers, Gedion Timothewos and Paulo Rangel, in Addis Ababa on April 15, 2026. Minister Gedion highlighted the historical relationship between the two nations and stressed the need to bolster cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and environmental protection. Minister Rangel emphasized that direct air transport between Ethiopia and Portugal represents a significant opportunity to deepen economic relations. Both sides committed to working collaboratively in multilateral forums and to scheduling the future consultation.
