United Nigeria Airlines has grounded one of its CRJ-900 aircraft following a bird strike incident that occurred on Tuesday during the landing of Flight UN0579, which originated from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, and was bound for Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. This incident is the fifth bird strike experienced by the airline's aircraft since January 2026, prompting the immediate withdrawal of the plane for thorough technical inspections and necessary maintenance as per the airline's safety protocols. United Nigeria Airlines has cautioned that this grounding may lead to some flight schedule disruptions and has apologized to passengers for any inconvenience, reiterating that passenger safety is their utmost priority and that all bird strike incidents are managed in accordance with aviation safety regulations.
