Cambodia denies reports Hun Sen regretted leaked call clip, says it is not urging Thailand to reopen border checkpoints 9h ago

Cambodia has refuted claims circulating in Thai media that Senate President Hun Sen admitted to making a mistake by releasing a leaked audio clip of a conversation with former Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and that he was seeking to mend relations. Hun Sen's spokesperson explicitly denied these reports, stating they are untrue and that suggestions of Hun Sen acknowledging an error to close associates or proposing a reset in ties, including reinstating Cambodia’s chargé d’affaires in Thailand, are false. Concurrently, Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence has also denied reports suggesting it urged Thailand to reopen border checkpoints for urgent cargo. The ministry stated that Thailand unilaterally closed the border and that any reopening is Thailand's responsibility, with Cambodia prepared to respond accordingly.
