‘Just Let It Go’: UNILAG Student Tells Lagos Court How HOD Allegedly Dismissed Rape Accusation Against Lecturer 20h ago

A 20-year-old University of Lagos student testified in the Lagos State High Court on Wednesday, recounting her alleged rape by lecturer Samuel Obinna Ojogbo, 53, on August 22, 2025. The student stated that the incident occurred in Ojogbo’s office on the Akoka campus after a supervised examination. She detailed how Ojogbo allegedly coerced her into his windowless, underground office and assaulted her. Following the alleged rape, Ojogbo reportedly promised academic support and collected her contact information. When the student reported the incident to her department's Head of Department (HOD), she claims the HOD dismissed her complaint, questioning the lack of evidence and advising her and her uncle to "let it go." The trial, presided over by Justice Oyindamola Ogala, is ongoing, with the next hearing scheduled for April 27, 2026, for the witness's cross-examination.
