Nationalist Party backs Valletta FC campus plan 18.04.2026

The Nationalist Party has declared its full support for the government's plan to transfer public land in Pembroke to Valletta FC for the construction of a football campus. Opposition leader Alex Borg confirmed the party will back the motion in parliament, viewing it as an investment in youth, sport, and the community. The proposed campus, announced by Prime Minister Robert Abela in February, includes multiple pitches, administrative and academy facilities, and a futsal venue, with part of the site also allocated to Swieqi United. This land, designated for development and estimated between €75 million and €100 million, faces opposition from Pembroke residents through a parliamentary petition citing concerns over open space loss, environmental impact, and increased pollution, calling for thorough assessments and public consultation.
