Penang teen sets Malaysian record for memorising 300 digits of pi 19.04.2026

Fourteen-year-old K Poonyamitra, a Form 2 student at St George’s Girls School in Penang, has achieved a new Malaysian record by successfully memorizing and reciting the first 300 digits of pi. She accomplished this feat on February 9, 2024, after dedicating two months to daily practice, aiming for at least 10 new digits each day. Poonyamitra received recognition and a certificate from the Malaysia Book of Records for her accomplishment. Her mother noted that Poonyamitra had previously excelled in memory challenges, winning the Memory Athlete category in Kids Got Talent Malaysia and achieving runner-up status in an Asean world records event last year, and also auditioned for America's Got Talent.
