Exco: Jalan Sungai Buloh nursery operators given until August to vacate 15h ago

The Selangor government has extended the deadline for nursery operators along Jalan Sungai Buloh to vacate their premises until August, following discussions with stakeholders. While enforcement on those already relocated will proceed in stages from May, strict action will be taken against non-compliant parties after the new deadline. State Infrastructure and Agriculture Committee chairman Datuk Izham Hashim stated this decision, impacting approximately 600 families and disrupting a two-decade-old horticulture supply chain, was made after extensive planning and evaluation, considering development needs and operator welfare. An ex gratia payment of RM10,000 per plot is offered, though operators claim relocation costs range from RM40,000 to RM70,000. Previous relocation plans to Bukit Changgang were halted due to technical issues, including flood risks and RM10 million in estimated upgrading costs.
