Amazon launches GLP-1 program as gaps in care emerge 21.04.2026

Amazon's One Medical has launched a nationwide GLP-1 program to address the surging demand for weight-loss drugs and perceived gaps in patient care. Announced Tuesday, the program integrates GLP-1 prescriptions with ongoing primary care, encompassing regular check-ins, lab work, and monitoring for conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure. This initiative aims to offer a more holistic approach than standalone telehealth providers, which One Medical executives noted have sometimes resulted in patients being malnourished or on improper doses. The program utilizes both virtual and in-person care, integrating with Amazon Pharmacy for medication delivery and transparent pricing, with costs potentially as low as $25 per month with insurance. This move by Amazon follows a similar launch by Walmart, highlighting a growing trend of major retailers entering the GLP-1 market.
