ODM leaders push back against dissent, reassert party loyalty 20.04.2026

Leaders of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have forcefully addressed internal dissent and reaffirmed party loyalty, signaling a zero-tolerance policy for indiscipline and perceived external interference as Kenya approaches the 2027 general election. During a youth league meeting in Nairobi, party officials and elected representatives articulated a firm stance, asserting the ODM's continued solidarity amid recent political shifts and internal/external critiques. ODM Nairobi region chairman George Aladwa directly stated that individuals insulting the party leader would be confronted, emphasizing unwavering defense of their leadership. Junet Mohammed, the party's elections director, clarified that the current cooperation framework with UDA does not compromise ODM's distinct identity, stressing that the party remains the central platform for its members and any engagement must be through it, denouncing what he called "briefcase parties."
