Show must go on: Melaka chief minister says no reason for state polls to be delayed 10h ago

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh stated on April 21 that there are no valid reasons to delay the state election, which is constitutionally mandated to occur by December. He indicated that the Barisan Nasional-led government's term concludes this year, and elections can be held anytime between May and December. Yusoh dismissed suggestions for postponement, including one from Pontian MP Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan citing West Asian geopolitical concerns and another from Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong referencing global supply crises, asserting insufficient grounds for such a delay.
