breaking news304 Malaysians among 1,426 left jobless after glovemaker’s closure 14h ago

Glovemaker WRP Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd ceased operations in Sepang, Selangor, on April 15, resulting in 1,426 workers losing their jobs, with 304 of them being Malaysian nationals. The human resources ministry confirmed that all outstanding wage and termination benefit claims will be processed, noting that March salaries have been paid, and April salaries are pending. Some Malaysian workers may receive temporary contracts for essential tasks, while the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) is actively assisting all retrenched employees in finding new employment. The company cited escalating costs, particularly for petrochemical-derived raw materials due to the Middle East conflict, and supply chain disruptions as primary reasons for the closure, assuring the welfare of foreign workers during their relocation.
