What Meta’s new Teen Accounts will look and feel like for Malaysian users under 16 4h ago

Meta Platforms has introduced enhanced "Teen Accounts" on Instagram for Malaysian users under 16, implementing stricter default settings for privacy, content exposure, and parental controls as Putrajaya considers a social media ban for this age group. These revamped accounts automatically align content with age-appropriate movie ratings and place users under 18 into a 13+ setting that requires parental consent for opting out. A new "Limited Content" option further narrows accessible content and disables commenting entirely, aiming to reassure parents about age-appropriate exposure and provide them with greater oversight. The update also restricts teens' interaction with certain accounts, broadens blocked mature search terms, and adjusts AI features for age suitability, building on existing default protections like private accounts and limited messaging.
