Iran war: Revolutionary Guard says seizes ships in Hormuz 22.04.2026

Iran's Revolutionary Guard announced the seizure of two ships, the MSC Francesca and Epaminondas, in the Strait of Hormuz, accusing them of endangering maritime security by operating without authorization. This action coincides with uncertainty over US-Iran ceasefire talks and follows an earlier report of Iran firing on a third vessel, the Euphoria. The ongoing conflict, referred to as the "Iran war," has led Germany's Economy Ministry to cut its 2026 and 2027 growth forecasts due to rising energy prices, projecting 0.5% and 0.9% growth respectively, with inflation expected to reach 2.7% and 2.8%. The European Commission is proposing measures to address soaring oil and gas prices, including improved monitoring of jet fuel supplies, as approximately 20% of the EU's jet fuel is imported via the Strait of Hormuz. Amidst this, Israel's Foreign Minister urged Lebanon to cooperate against Hezbollah, while China called for a comprehensive ceasefire, describing the situation as critical.
