Israeli settlers block Palestinian children from school in the West Bank 10h ago

In Umm al-Khair, occupied West Bank, at least 55 Palestinian children have been barred from attending school for ten consecutive days due to a barbed-wire fence installed by Israeli settlers, obstructing their route. Save the Children reports that students, teachers, and families are conducting daily peaceful protests, establishing an outdoor classroom near the blockade. Some children have reportedly been exposed to tear gas amidst these demonstrations. This incident follows a nearly two-month disruption to schooling, which began when schools reopened after being closed since February 28 due to the US and Israeli actions. The blockade is attributed to settlers from a nearby outpost established after the killing of Palestinian activist Awdah Hathaleen in July 2025 by Israeli settler Yinon Levi, amidst rising concerns over settlement expansion and settler violence in the West Bank, where Israeli settlements are deemed illegal under international law.
