Suspected gunman at Washington press dinner identified as 31-year-old Californian 27.04.2026

Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old man from Torrance, California, has been identified as the suspect arrested after firing shots at the Washington Hilton hotel on Saturday night, an incident occurring one floor below the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Allen, who reportedly described himself as a mechanical engineer, game developer, and teacher, allegedly stated his intention to target Trump administration officials. Law enforcement sources indicate a history of anti-Trump social media posts and a document believed to be a manifesto outlining his intent to attack officials, with others being secondary targets if necessary. Allen was apprehended with a shotgun, handgun, and multiple knives and, while not struck by gunfire, was taken for evaluation. He faces charges of using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer.
