Protests may need to be stopped in some cases, PM suggests 8h ago

UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer suggested there may be instances where protests should be banned, following calls for a suspension of pro-Palestinian marches. Speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today programme, Starmer expressed concern about the "cumulative" effect of repeated marches on the Jewish community, particularly after two Jewish men were stabbed in Golders Green, north London, on Wednesday. The attack, charged as attempted murder against Essa Suleiman, 45, was declared a terror incident. Starmer said the government intends to deal with cumulative effects and will examine further powers. This follows calls from terrorism legislation reviewer Jonathan Hall and Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis for a moratorium on pro-Palestinian marches, citing antisemitic language incubation.
