Six girls rescued in large-scale operation along infamous trafficking corridor 07.05.2026

In a significant enforcement operation last month, Portland police recovered at least six underage girls, ranging in age from 13 to 17, from prostitution-related activities. The operation, conducted by the Portland Police Human Trafficking Unit (HTU) and the East Precinct starting April 15, targeted the notorious 82nd Avenue corridor in Southeast Portland, an area long plagued by sex trafficking. Authorities noted the recovery of such a high number of child victims in a short period was "stunning" and significantly above the norm, though it remains unclear if this indicates a new trend or an isolated occurrence. The rescued girls are receiving support from various agencies, including Portland Police Bureau Victim Services, Safety Compass, and the Oregon Department of Human Services, which is assisting with reunification or placement.
