UFO files reveal astronauts saw mysterious objects and lights in 1972 10h ago

New Pentagon files released on Friday detail unidentified objects and lights witnessed by astronauts during the Apollo 17 mission in December 1972. The documents, part of over 100 declassified UAP files unveiled on a new Defense Department website, include a NASA photograph showing three "dots" in a triangular formation in the lunar sky, which preliminary analysis suggests could be a physical object. Apollo 17 crew members reported seeing bright, fireworks-like sparks and jagged fragments, with pilot Ronald Evans describing "bright particles or fragments," and pilot Harrison Schmitt noting "big ones" on his window. Mission commander Eugene Cernan also observed flashing, rotating phenomena resembling physical objects. The files also contain a 1969 Apollo 11 debriefing where Buzz Aldrin described observing an object of "sizeable dimension" and flashing lights inside the cabin.
