Amaewhule, Dekor, Other Wike Loyalists Win APC Reps Primaries In Rivers 17.05.2026

Loyalists of Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, have emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries held across Rivers State on Saturday, securing tickets for the 2027 general elections. Prominent winners include Martins Amaewhule, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, who won the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency with 17,968 votes, and incumbent Dumnamene Dekor, who retained the Gokana/Khana Federal Constituency ticket with 17,073 votes. The primaries saw numerous other Wike allies, such as Solomon Bob and Fredrick Apiafi, secure candidacies in various federal constituencies. The election committee chairman, Wahab Owokoniran, described the exercise as peaceful and orderly, contrary to prevailing expectations of violence in the state.
