Iran move World Cup base from US to Mexico with FIFA approval 23.05.2026

Iran's national football team will relocate their World Cup training base from Arizona, USA, to Tijuana, Mexico, a move officially approved by FIFA. This decision, announced by the head of Iran's football federation, Mehdi Taj, aims to circumvent potential visa complications arising from the US-Israel conflict. Tijuana's proximity to the Pacific Ocean and its border location offers a travel advantage, with flights to Los Angeles, where Iran will play its first two matches on June 15 and June 21, taking approximately 55 minutes. This strategic shift ensures easier access to match venues compared to the initially planned Arizona camp, addressing ongoing concerns about travel and security arrangements for the tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 19.
