The Worst Dangers Of Climate Change Are Still To Come, According To Scientists 27.05.2026

Scientists warn that the most severe dangers of climate change are yet to come, despite current warming trends making 2023-2025 the warmest years on record. While immediate impacts like heatwaves and hurricanes are already devastating certain regions and populations, particularly in South Asia and the Middle East where extreme heat may exceed human survival limits, projections indicate much worse outcomes if greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise. By 2100, under high-emissions scenarios, global temperatures could increase by 3–5°C above pre-industrial levels. This could lead to widespread uninhabitability due to extreme heat, catastrophic sea-level rise displacing tens of millions, severe food and water insecurity impacting hundreds of millions, and significant societal and economic collapse, disproportionately affecting poorer nations and populations.
