Dress my age? No thanks: Meet the ‘granfluencers’ redefining style on social media 28.05.2026

A new wave of stylish Singaporean seniors, dubbed "granfluencers," are challenging age-old fashion norms and gaining significant followings on social media. Figures like Susie Low, 59, Roger Tan, 65, and Vicsland Poh, 60, are using platforms like TikTok and Instagram to showcase their personal styles, which range from vibrant cosplay and adventurous outfits to avant-garde monochromatic ensembles. Fashion content creator Kristian Lenardt, who defines seniors as 60 and above, has seen his TikTok videos featuring older individuals styling themselves garner nearly 300,000 views since 2024, highlighting a growing societal openness to seeing seniors as expressive and relevant. This trend is also reflected in the fashion industry with agencies like Platinum Angels Management, founded in 2022, casting models over 50, and established personalities like Ong Bee Yan and Gym Tan gaining recognition. These granfluencers emphasize confidence and self-expression, rejecting the notion that style is dictated by age and demonstrating that fashion can be a powerful extension of personality at any stage of life.
