Kaamatan festival symbolises unity, harmony, says Fadillah 30.05.2026

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof stated that the Kaamatan Festival, celebrated by the Kadazan-Dusun, Murut, and Rungus communities in Sabah on May 30 and 31, is a significant symbol of gratitude, unity, and togetherness within the state's multiracial society. He highlighted that the harvest festival reflects the harmony among Malaysians, irrespective of their race, religion, or cultural background. The theme for the 2026 Kaamatan Festival, ‘Harvesting Unity, Celebrating Harmony’, was praised for its aptness in capturing the spirit of cooperation, especially in addressing global challenges such as economic instability and rising living costs. Fadillah emphasized that this unity is crucial for Malaysia's strength and stability.
