Cyprus hotel bookings making slow comeback 17h ago

Thanos Michaelides, chairman of the Cyprus Hoteliers Association (Pasyxe), reported a slow but present improvement in hotel bookings for May, though still below expected levels for the period. This trend is anticipated to continue into June. While bookings have increased compared to March, they have not fully recovered from a March halt, particularly impacting July and August. Hopes remain for increased last-minute bookings in June to improve summer season results. The Israeli market shows signs of recovery, which is seen as crucial for Cyprus's tourism, given its market's responsiveness. The association also highlighted the importance of staff and noted government support for human resources in April due to booking downturns. Hotel prices remain competitive, with discounts offered to tour operators and domestic tourists to stimulate demand.
