Gelvia Vanessa Jenny, a 24-year-old contestant from Papar, has been crowned the 2026 Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan at the state-level Kaamatan Festival in Penampang. This victory marks her success on her second attempt at the title, having begun dedicated training in February. Gelvia, the third of eight siblings, attributed her win to her family’s prayers and her aspiration to connect with the public. She proudly showcased the traditional Kadazan Papar attire, known as "sia do binokian," during the cultural beauty competition, which honors the heritage of Sabah's ethnic communities and commemorates the sacrifices of Huminodun. Juje Elor from Tuaran secured the second position, and Criszelbellkah Lorris from Matunggong placed third. The festival concluded with a traditional rice harvesting ceremony and the striking of a gong by Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Musa Aman.
