African Union Officials Discuss Ethiopia Election Preparedness and Observation Mission Impact Ahead of National Vote 8h ago

Senior African Union officials met in Addis Ababa on May 31, 2026, to assess Ethiopia’s readiness for its 7th general election slated for June 1, 2026. The discussions, featuring the Head of the African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) to Ethiopia, former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, and the Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Ould Ghazouani Haddadi, centered on election preparedness and the impact of observation missions.
