Authorities discovered over 50 dead pigeons in a severely neglected and abandoned loft in Qormi during a joint inspection by the Animal Welfare Directorate and the Environmental Health Directorate. The loft, which housed racing pigeons, was found in a dire state, with only four live pigeons rescued. These surviving birds are now receiving veterinary care and will be moved to suitable accommodation. The owner of the loft is set to face prosecution in court for the animal cruelty and neglect. The Animal Welfare Directorate highlighted the importance of public reporting of suspected cases and thanked collaborating agencies for their efforts in addressing such distressing situations.
