Ayob Khan: IPCC under Home Ministry gives public independent avenue to report police misconduct 06.06.2026

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay stated that the Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC) offers the public a new avenue to report police misconduct, an alternative to the Royal Malaysia Police's (PDRM) Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS). Previously, JIPS was the sole channel, leading to public discomfort due to the perception of internal investigations. The IPCC, established under the Independent Police Conduct Commission Act 2022 (Act 839) and operational since July 1, 2023, functions independently under the Home Ministry with its own investigators. Its mandate includes probing misconduct like corruption and torture, recommending disciplinary actions, and improving public trust in the police.
