NAF Deploys Surveillance Aircraft To Track Abducted Oyo Schoolchildren, Teachers 07.06.2026

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has deployed surveillance aircraft to aid in the rescue of teachers and pupils abducted from communities in Oyo State's Oriire Local Government Area. Governor Seyi Makinde confirmed this deployment, stating that the NAF's aerial platform provided critical intelligence for search-and-rescue operations following the May 15 kidnapping from Baptist Nursery and Primary School (Yawota), Community Grammar School (Esiele), and L.A. Primary School. One teacher was killed during captivity. Governor Makinde expressed gratitude for the NAF's swift response, especially as Oyo State's newly acquired aerial assets are still undergoing assembly. The NAF reaffirmed its commitment to supporting security agencies in securing the safe return of the victims and addressing security challenges nationwide.
