RIZAL Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) has approved a P4.5 billion loan agreement with Singapore-based solar developer ib vogt for a hybrid solar-plus-storage project in Iloilo. This facility will finance a 99-megawatt-peak (MWp) solar photovoltaic capacity system integrated with a 4 MW/16 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). Project development began early this year, with commissioning anticipated in the second quarter of 2027. Upon completion, the plant is projected to generate over 160 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity annually, sufficient for more than 85,000 households, and reduce CO2 emissions by over 70,000 tons yearly. The integrated BESS aims to bolster grid stability and dispatchability within the Visayas grid, and the project is part of ib vogt's broader development pipeline in the Philippines.
