A new report by the Social & Labour Convergence Program (SLCP) reveals that 69% of assessed manufacturing facilities lack climate adaptation strategies, despite 16% recording indoor temperatures exceeding 31°C. Based on 10,700 assessments covering 7.5 million workers globally in 2025, the data highlights significant risks to worker safety and stagnant improvements in labor conditions. To combat these hazards, SLCP integrated climate data into its Converged Assessment Framework (CAF) to align with Human Rights Due Diligence. The report notes a disparity in preparedness, with small to medium enterprises lagging behind larger sites. While Vietnam shows high monitoring rates due to regulation, 32% of its sites still exceed safe temperature limits. Additionally, 91% of facilities recorded legal non-compliance, though repeated CAF use suggests a 20% reduction in such issues over five years.
