Longevity Startup Doses First Human in Bid to Reverse Age-Related Sight Loss 09.06.2026

Longevity startup Life Biosciences has administered its ER-100 drug to the first human participant in a clinical trial aimed at reversing age-related vision loss. This groundbreaking therapy, which has reportedly restored vision in monkeys, will be tested for safety and efficacy in approximately 18 adults over the next year. The trial focuses on conditions like glaucoma and NAION, which damage optic nerve cells responsible for transmitting visual data. ER-100 is designed to rejuvenate these cells, potentially restoring sight. This marks the first time a cellular rejuvenation therapy utilizing this specific technology has received FDA clearance for human trials, offering a critical opportunity to assess its potential for treating human diseases by addressing the loss of epigenetic information, a key driver of aging according to cofounder David Sinclair.
