Thousands of residents in the southern Iranian town of Sirik are without safe drinking water following US airstrikes that damaged two critical reservoirs. The strikes, which targeted Sirik, Jask, and Qeshm Island, were a response to Iran's alleged downing of a US Army Apache helicopter. State media reported on Wednesday that the damage to the reservoirs supplying the Bemani and Kouhestak areas has left approximately 20,000 people without access to water. This situation is exacerbated by extreme temperatures ranging from 45 to 50 degrees Celsius, making conditions critical for the local population. Water company officials stated that the destruction of these reservoirs has severely impacted the region's water supply network, as groundwater resources are insufficient to compensate for the loss. Efforts are underway to secure alternative water sources for the affected villages.
